Dress Up Party!

I made a fox costume to wear to my friend's birthday party. I also helped my roommate make a dress out of stuffed animals and tulle.

I had a fear of foxes for a while when I was little. I was playing outside one day when my dogs found a den of baby foxes (kits) so I started to play with them and the mom fox came (vixen) and bit my foot. I have a very vivid memory of kicking my white canvas shoe with a fox attached to it, trying to shake it off. My mom was painting the house that day and she and my brother climbed up the ladder. I think my dad eventually intervened. I don't remember what happened after that.

Earrings

These earrings were made with red pine bark, feathers, and abalone shell. They're coated with a urethane to preserve and strengthen the bark.

Mask-hats, cat hats, mustache, and mohawk hats

These are a few of the hats I made over the winter.

I'm starting this blog as a way to express my need to make things with my hands.

I've been thinking about Craft as being the avant-garde of Design, since Craft constitutes the exploratory, innovative part of the Design world. (Thank you to http://www.danishcraft.org)

This blog seeks to do justice to the word Craft and redefine it as clever objects that have the touch of hand without whimsy attached.

That is the goal. Foremost, it is just whatever I feel compelled to make.
