Den Lille Havfrue

This is Den Lille Havfrue (Danish for the little mermaid.) I was thinking about the original story by Hans Christian Anderson and how it differed from the Disney version- she becomes sea foam in the end and the Prince marries another girl- and I wanted to make a different version.

In my version this lille havfrue gives up her eyesight instead of her voice and has "antlers" of seaweed to cover her eyes. In my sketch she has webbed fingers as well. Perhaps I'll elaborate on her story later.

She was made with needle felted white wool, crocheted green poly-blend yarn, and yarn-wrapped pipe cleaners for her antlers.

Dress Up Party!

I made a fox costume to wear to my friend's birthday party. I also helped my roommate make a dress out of stuffed animals and tulle.

I had a fear of foxes for a while when I was little. I was playing outside one day when my dogs found a den of baby foxes (kits) so I started to play with them and the mom fox came (vixen) and bit my foot. I have a very vivid memory of kicking my white canvas shoe with a fox attached to it, trying to shake it off. My mom was painting the house that day and she and my brother climbed up the ladder. I think my dad eventually intervened. I don't remember what happened after that.
